How to Fix a Cadillac CUE Screen (It’s easier than you think)
22nd May 2025
The CUE systems are used in a variety of Cadillac vehicles as an all-in-one interface to control entertainment, navigation, audio, and more. CUE stands for “Cadillac User Experience” and it’s essentially a touchscreen dashboard that replaces functions which would be traditionally handled by knobs and buttons. Unfortunately, these screens were not designed to last, with many of them failing after only a few years of use. In fact, failure of these CUE screens has been so significant that a class action lawsuit was filed in 2019 by owners of 2013-2017 Cadillac vehicles. We’ll walk you through how to diagnose a CUE screen failure and then show you some options to fix the screen that will last much longer than the original.
Why Do Cadillac Cue Screens Fail?
The symptoms of failure include screen delamination, cracked glass, spider webbing, discolored display, and unresponsive touchscreen. The most common of these issues is delamination of the touchscreen, often causing an appearance of cracks that would look like a spider web. This is ultimately caused by poor design and manufacturing techniques. The original screen uses a gel-like substance to bond portions of the touchscreen. This gel becomes dry after a few years of use and either hardens or evaporates, causing the problems mentioned.
How Much Does It Cost to Replace a Cadillac Cue Screen?
Unfortunately, getting the screen repaired by a dealer can prove to be a frustrating ordeal. Most dealers will quote a price that’s well above $1000 to replace the entire unit (not just the failed touchscreen). Not only is this a very high price to pay for fixing a relatively new vehicle, but it’s also a very high likelihood that the new unit will fail in the same way within just a few years, leaving you to pay out even more money down the road.
How to Fix a Cadillac CUE Screen
Most Cadillac owners opt to replace just the failed touchscreen portion of the unit. This is the most affordable way to restore functionality and can also be the most reliable long-term solution. There are a variety of screens available for purchase, so be sure to choose one that’s high-quality. You should make sure that the replacement you choose uses a gel-free design to prevent repeated issues down the road. We offer a Gel-Free Cue Screen Replacement as well as a full installation video showing you the step-by-step procedure.
