How to troubleshoot the Whirlpool Duet F11 error on your washing machine:

The dreaded Whirlpool Duet F11 error code has been plaguing Whirlpool washing machines for the last 8-10 years. This error is often caused by a failed CCU, MCU or sometimes both control boards on the washer.

This troubleshooting guide will help work through the different failures of the Whirlpool Duet washers. You need to first determine your model number because the F11 error code means different things for different models. Let us know if you have any additional questions.

GHW Series Washers

If the beginning of your model number begins with GHW, your failure could be due to the CCU (Central Control Unit) or MCU (Motor Control Unit).

Some of the main symptoms of a faulty Whirlpool Duet CCU are

1) Intermittent F11

2) Cycle can sometimes be completed

3) Drum begins to spin before error occurs

4) Striking the top of the washer will temporarily fix the error

Some of the main symptoms of a faulty  Whirlpool Duet MCU are

1) F11 within a minute of starting any cycle

2) Drum does not begin to spin on any cycle

3) Door will lock and water will start to fill but nothing else happens

Instead of making costly assumptions, we offer testing of the modules for this series to determine the required repairs before you place an order. Please contact us at 800-547-2049 for further details regarding our testing services.

WFW Series Washers

If the beginning of your model number begins with WFW, your failure is due to a faulty MCU (Motor Control Unit). When Whirlpool redesigned the Duet washer, some of the design flaws from the GHW series were corrected. This is why the F11 is only a code for a faulty MCU.
